Yaxon Zhilian has earned dual international certifications—ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434—seizing new opportunities in the era of stringent safety and compliance for intelligent connected vehicles.

“Safety is the ultimate luxury in automotive products.” As electrification, intelligence, and connectivity reshape the automotive industry, traditional mechanical safety has evolved into a multidimensional, integrated framework encompassing functional safety, intended functionality safety, data security, and cybersecurity—this is not merely a technical challenge, but also the core expectation of users in the era of intelligent connected vehicles for “safe mobility.”

Intelligent Connected Vehicles: A Major Security Challenge Behind the Convenience

The rapid development of intelligent connected vehicles is profoundly transforming how people travel, with innovative features such as real-time navigation, remote control, and vehicle‑road coordination delivering an unprecedented level of convenience. However, behind these technological advances, cybersecurity risks must not be overlooked.

Previously, the China EV100 Association, in collaboration with Tencent Cloud, released the “Annual Insights into Data Security for Intelligent Connected Vehicles,” which highlighted that, since 2020, domestic malicious cyberattacks targeting related entities—including vehicle manufacturers and connected‑car information service providers—have exceeded 2.8 million incidents. At the end of 2024, German media reported that Volkswagen suffered a data breach at one of its software subsidiaries, exposing the personal information of 800,000 electric‑vehicle owners.

Cyberattacks, data breaches, malware, and other security threats pose significant risks to vehicle owners’ privacy and property. Addressing these challenges has become a pressing issue requiring coordinated efforts by governments and enterprises worldwide.

The Era of Stringent Compliance: Dual International Standards Have Become the Industry’s Entry Barrier

In response to the security challenges facing intelligent connected vehicles, the international community has introduced a series of standards and regulations. Among these, ISO 26262, the automotive functional safety management system, and ISO/SAE 21434, the automotive cybersecurity management system, stand as the two cornerstone international standards in the global automotive safety domain. Addressing the twin risks of “system‑intrinsic failures” and “external cyber threats,” they jointly establish a vehicle‑safety framework that spans the entire lifecycle, serving as both the industry’s “safety entry threshold” and a benchmark for technological competitiveness.

ISO 26262, the automotive functional safety management system, is a globally recognized standard for automotive functional safety, designed to ensure that a vehicle’s electronic and electrical systems remain safe and reliable both under normal operating conditions and in fault scenarios.

ISO/SAE 21434, the Automotive Cybersecurity Management System, is a joint publication of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). It is the world’s first international standard for cybersecurity management in the automotive industry, marking a shift in cybersecurity from “technical protection” to “systematic governance.”

Dual Certification: Yaxon Zhilian Ensures Automotive Safety

As a leading domestic supplier of connected‑vehicle components, Yaxon Zhilian consistently places “safety” at the forefront of product R&D and manufacturing. As early as 2014, the company began investing in automotive information security research and actively promoted the integration of commercial cryptography with the connected‑vehicle ecosystem. In 2016, it successfully obtained China’s first commercial cryptographic product type certificate for an in‑vehicle cryptographic module in the automotive sector. In recent years, the company has also launched a series of secure gateway products and solutions, continuously strengthening its foundational security capabilities.

In 2024, Yaxon Zhilian officially obtained the ISO/SAE 21434 Automotive Cybersecurity Management System certification issued by TÜV Rheinland, an internationally recognized third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization. This milestone underscores that Yaxon Zhilian’s cybersecurity governance and end-to-end product cybersecurity lifecycle management are fully aligned with the global ISO/SAE 21434 standard, thereby securing international validation of its cybersecurity capabilities.

In early 2025, Yaxon Zhilian once again obtained the highest‑level ASIL D certification under ISO 26262, the automotive functional safety management system standard, awarded by the international certification body TÜV SÜD. This makes Yaxon Zhilian one of the few domestic companies to hold dual international certifications for both automotive cybersecurity and functional safety.
